The original drawing for this panel from strip 104 was more explicit, with it clear Naomi was not hearing a bra and having her nipples more visible under the fabric, but it seemed a little overt, even for the character, so I toned it down.
The strange eyes look like an alien-Naomi hybrid, but my wife thought it was still really cool, and encouraged me to post it.
Curt cleans up nice. I always like drawing the characters in classier outfits then they normally wear.
Header for the Facebook page, using slightly altered panels from strip 103
Pencil rough for Nick from one of the strips
Unused art from around strip 99/100
Super loose design stuff for Nick, making him shorter and rounder, and much more exaggerated.
This was an unused design from an idea to have strip 100 jump to the future, where Naomi visits Curt in a mental institution, and he asks her if she's the devil.
Yeah, obviously that got tossed out pretty quick. But I like the design.
Oh nothin,' just sittin' here, sketching plunging necklines...
This was a coloring experimentation with an attempt at a softer cell shading. I really like it, but the result was pretty accidental, and I don't remember how I did it at this point.
I just wanted to draw Naomi wearing big-ass aviators.
I really like playing around with different art styles. I like my own stuff best when I get outside of my normal style and get a little weird.
Unfortunately I seem to struggle to maintain any kind of consistency, and I always seem to fall back into my rut-like comfort zone. I had a ton of fun with this drawing of a creepier looking Curt.
Digital painting of Curt.
Digital painting of Naomi, looking uncharacteristically cute.
Unused sketch from a strip.
I've always liked the idea of this drawing, this was probably my 3rd or 4th try at it over the years, and the one that turned out best.
I love this redesign of Ali to this day, even if the hair only looked right from certain angles. This is probably one of my personal favorite drawings.
This was a pass at redesigning Naomi's friend Ali. I liked a lot of it, but it was WAY too much skin, I don't know what I was thinking. The hair worked, but I ended up changing it, because it never looked right from the front.
Recolor of an existing drawing to experiment with giving Naomi bleached hair.
This was a humorous attempt at imagining the characters as sexy heart-throbs on the CW or something.
A bunch of Naomi drawings from over the years. It's interesting to me to see the evolution of my own art up to that point.
Some character design stuff from going into season 2 of the strip.
Woah, pulled from way back, here's a hoodie wearing Curt from the previous iteration of the strip.
An old sketch of Jess I always liked from the previous iteration of the strip.
